Chi-Ting Chen
From the Paiwan ethnic group in Sandi Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, she studied piano and flute since childhood and transferred to vocal major at university and continued to improve on flute playing. She received Western music education and training until entering the institute and participating in ethnomusicology research. She then returned home to participate in tribal public affairs. Together with the youth of Sandi Village they organized the "Youth in Timur". The essay that records music stories through academic methods was recognized as excellent of the society group by the "National Indigenous Peoples Research Paper" in 2018. She was also selected as the first ICTM study group-in-th-making for Music and Dance in Indigenous and Postcolonial Contexts. She likes to make diversified connections with society through music. She has been sponsored by the Indigenous Peoples Cultural Foundation to publish the Paiwan Ancient Ballad String Quartet. She is also an assistant to the Taiwan Music Yearbook Project, collecting and recording music-related activities of the Aboriginals of Taiwan. As for the promoting and teaching of music, she participated in the editing of the English textbook music part of the Paiwan-based curriculum of Pingtung County Aboriginal Curriculum Development Center. She is also a music assistant therapy teacher in many day care centers in the indigenous town of Pingtung County.
