◎講者簡介：Tasaw Hsin-chun LU 呂心純 is an associate research fellow at the Institute of Ethnology in Taiwan’s Academia Sinica. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles. Her research interests include migration, cultural tourism, identity formation, and applied ethnomusicology, with a principal geo-cultural specialty on Burma/Myanmar and its diasporas.

【簡報摘要】In Longgang, a district of Taoyuan in northern Taiwan, a Yunnanese community has promoted two revivals of da-ge, a dance brought from their past in the Golden Triangle area of the Southeast Asia highlands. However, in the revivals—one in the late 1970s and the other in early 2000s, the da-ge form was represented and articulated divergently in response to different agendas of cultural governance at the times. I argue that this ostensible incongruity of da-ge forms is grounded in the distinct cultural hybridity of borderland peoples and in their ambivalent attitude towards an in-between way of life. They had cultivated such hybridity and attitude when living in the borderlands for their survival in marginal, frontier circumstances. Through the analysis of sensory experience in their da-ge performance, furthermore, this research explores the dynamic relationships of the notions their imagined frontier’s past, national belonging, and resistance against the dominance.
